There are two types of evil. One type is immoral evil, which is created by humans as a result of free choice. This can be classified as breaking the Commandments. Another type of evil is morally neutral evil, which is a test from God to see his faith in Him. An example of this would be a natural disaster that destroys homes.
Another intepretation of evil is that it is a part of human nature that stems from greed, and therefore humans create evil, God doesn't.
A third interpretation was that religion creates evil because it causes differences, which often lead to war.
Evil can also be spread by good men doing nothing, and by doing nothing to stop this evil, these people are just as culpable as those that have committed the evil acts.
A nonreligious interpretation of evil is that it actually doesn't exist but it's an interpretation humans put to actions they don't understand.
